Council's Ad Hoc Citizens' $ud~et Task Force 2 November 2, 2009 CaCendar The following schedule is designed to have the Committee's work completed in time for the Council's retreat in January 2010, and allow sufficient meeting time. However, as noted earlier, the Committee's work will need to be completed in January so that its input can be considered by Council at the January Council retreat and during the development of the 2010-11 Budget. Format As currently envisioned, the format for the Committee's work will consist of three major elements: • Education. Topics will include the General Fund budget, City wide budget, Five Year Budget Forecast, Revenue Measures, San Leandro Employee Feedback Survey, and City Services. The City Manager and other staff may address the Committee • Priorities. Staff will ask the Committee to complete a series of ranking exercises for both major City service areas and specific services and programs. • Committee Issues. In addition to completing the prioritization work noted above, the Committee may have specific issues, ideas and recommendations that it wishes communicated to Council. That information will be developed and submitted to Council. Major Objectives In general terms, staff believes that the following objectives are both realistic and achievable given the time available. Please note, the objectives for the program are organized under the same major elements as discussed in the Format section above.
