MINUTES Page 10 <br />City of San Leandro City Council, San Leandro Economic Development Agency, and San Leandro Redevelopment <br />Agency Joint Meeting~ctober 19, 2009 <br />Mayor Santos noted the opposition to BRT by residents and businesses in District 2. He <br />reported on the East Bay Dischargers Authority meeting, and new requirements from <br />the Regional Water Quality Control Board for reducing trash flow to the bay. Mayor <br />Santos also reported on the meetings of the Alameda County Mayors Conference and <br />the Alameda County Transportation Improvement Authority (ACTIA). He announced <br />that he has appointed Melody Marr to the ACTIA Citizens Watchdog Committee. <br />B. Reports on Conferences and Seminars <br />Councilmember Gregory reported on the East Bay Economic Development Alliance <br />meeting, at which a presentation was given on sustainable business practices, and San <br />Leandro's Peterson Holding Company received an Honorable Mention in <br />StopWaste.Org's 2009 Partnership Business Efficiency Awards for outstanding <br />achievements in enhanced operational efficiency, environmental performance and waste <br />reduction. <br />Mayor Santos reported on his attendance at the U.S. Conference of Mayors in Seattle, <br />and suggested that the City might be eligible for federal COPS funding by assisting <br />Oakland in patrolling the Oakland-San Leandro border. Mayor Santos also reported on <br />a meeting at the Portuguese Embassy, where he met three Congressional leaders from <br />the Central Valley, and six Portuguese business owners addressed the group on <br />renewable energy. <br />C. Reports on City Council Committees <br />1. Facilities and Transportation Committee Meeting of September 16, 2009. <br />Accepted as submitted. <br />Councilmember Prola expressed agreement with Councilmember Souza. regarding <br />her support for construction of Eden Road. He commented that residents believe <br />truck traffic in the neighborhoods would be reduced if Eden Road was <br />constructed. <br />Vice Mayor Starosciak requested a report on the status of the dog park, with a <br />future Council discussion regarding moving the project forward. <br />2. Shoreline-Marina Committee: Shoreline Development Citizens Advisory <br />Committee Meetings of July 29, 2009 and September 6, 2009. Accepted as <br />submitted. <br />Councilmember Souza commented that she heard a remark from a Committee <br />member that the Committee is being led in the direction staff wants them to go. <br />Mayor Santos stated that he felt it has been an open process. <br />
