Local Emergency Declaration 2 November 16, 2009 <br />In order to be eligible to recover costs related to response to this epidemic from the California <br />Disaster Assistance Act fund, the City must declare a Local Emergency. Additionally, the City <br />Council will be required to review the need for continuing the local emergency at least every <br />fourteen days and must proclaim the termination of the local emergency at the earliest possible <br />date that conditions warrant (§ 3-4-124 SLMC). <br />Current City Council Policy <br />San Leandro Municipal Code § 3-4-124 empowers the City's Director of Emergency Services <br />(City Manager) to request the City Council to proclaim the existence of a local emergency. <br />Previous City Council Action(s) <br />None <br />City Council Committee Review and Action <br />None <br />Fiscal Impact <br />Expenses relating to response to the H1N1 Influenza epidemic will have not been estimated at <br />this time. <br />CONCLUSION <br />In order for the City to be eligible to recover costs related to the public health threat from H1N1 <br />Influenza. epidemic, it is recommended that the City declare a local emergency. <br />
