Other efforts to help voters understand RCV will include:
- Signage at polling places
- Extra Poll Workers at Polling Places
We have also discussed:
Advertisements in newspapers and other traditional media - We have examined
options for advertising. So far city representatives seem concerned that costs are
prohibitive -single ads can cost tens of thousands of dollars -but this remains an option
should Berkeley, Oakland and San Leandro decide advertising is approach they want to
pursue.
Finally: in the months before the first RCV election, the Registrar of Voters and others
involved in the voter-education effort will take part in:
Extensive Media Outreach -working with the local media- newspapers, blogs,
television and radio -and encouraging news coverage of Alameda County's move to
RCV for the November 2010 elections in Berkeley, Oakland and San Leandro. The local
media has already written stories on this shift, and we anticipate media interest will be
high when we get close to the elections.
