IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO RESOLUTION N0.2009-149 (1051) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO ADNSTING THE CITY'S 2009-2010 FISCAL YEAR GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO REDIRECT $150,000 FROM AN EQUIPMENT LEASE/PURCHASE TO AN EQUIPMENT PURCHASE WHEREAS, the 2009-2010 General Fund budget contains funding for the lease/purchase of one fire engine. At the time the 2009-2010 budget was developed, the City anticipated that at least one fire engine would be purchased; $150,000 was budgeted for just such an equipment lease/purchase; and WHEREAS, the Alameda County Fire Department (ACFD) recently completed a competitive bid for multiple fire engines, to specifications for performance and equipment that met all ACFD safety and environmental regulations; and WHEREAS, the City proposes to purchase a new fire engine by piggy-backing on the County bid to benefit from the County's bid process, exacting specifications and additional discounts that are offered for multiple orders. In addition, the City will fmance the purchase of the new fire engine (not the cost of any equipment to outfit the fire engine) through a five year lease/purchase agreement; and WHEREAS, because the opportunity exists now for the City to obtain a competitive interest rate to utilize the lease/purchase financing option for the fire engine purchase, such that if the City Council did approve of the purchase through alease/purchase financing, the fire engine would not be delivered and first lease payment would not be due until fiscal year 2010- 2011, it is staffs recommendation to adjust the 2009-2010 General Fund budget item of $150,000 from an equipment lease/purchase to an equipment purchase to order the new equipment to outfit the new fire engine without increasing the 2009-2010 General Fund budget. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of San Leandro as follows: 1. The City Council approves a single budget adjustment in the 2009-2010 General Fund budget to make $150,000 budgeted for an "equipment lease/purchase" to $150,000 for an "equipment purchase" for outfitting a new fire engine.
