Discussion of FI' 2006-07 Budget Recommendation <br />Finance Director Baloca recommended the following budget amendments for Finance <br />Committee's approval: <br />• Adding one School Resource Officer (SRO) for $160k, thus increasing the number of <br />budgeted Sworn Officers positions from 90 to 91; <br />• Restoring the Cherry Festival for $90k, which excludes any revenues that may offset the <br />overall cost, as a one-day event; <br />• Restoring Sunday library service in the Main Library for four hours (12 p.m. to 4 p.m.) for <br />$63k; <br />• Adding $41;500 for Community Assistance funding; and <br />• Adding $36k to support the cost of holiday lighting and decorations for the Civic Center and <br />downtown areas. <br />Funding source will either be a reduction to the $1.3m set-aside established for GASB 45 in the <br />City's Self-Insurance Fund or from interfund loan repayments made to the General Fund. <br />In response to Mayor Young's question regarding why cone-day festival would only result in a <br />savings of $lOk when compared to a two day festival, Knudtson responded that the savings were <br />
