Mayor Santos discussed the history of Alameda's Quiet Hours agreement and how San
Leandro never benefited from that agreement.
Recommendations:
None
2. Report from North Field and South Field Study Groups and Aviation Stakeholders
Advisory Committee
Kathy Ornelas reported that the North Field Group had not met since the last report to the
Airport committee.
Regarding the South Field Group, Port staff is working toward replacing its noise monitoring
system to provide for better data collection. Radar Navigation Procedures will be studied by
the FAA for new approach procedures into the airport.
At the Stakeholders meeting, it was reported that Terminal 1 improvements continue. These
are mostly aesthetic (carpets, gate counters, bridge doors). Infrastructure improvement
(paging, lighting, HVAC) designs are in the works.
The Ground Traffic Survey is underway to determine the routes most traveled by all vehicles
into the airport to see what impacts airport activities are having on local streets, including San
Leandro's.
Recommendations:
None
3. Discussion Regarding Appointments of Community Representatives to the North Field
and South Field Study Groups and the Noise Forum
Kathy Ornelas reported that all of the City's citizen appointments to these groups expire on
December 31, 2009. A tally of their attendance for the past two years was distributed. Wafaa
Aborashed and Francois Gallo would like to continue serving on the North Field Group. John
Manuel would like to continue serving on the South Field Group, while Dennis Rosucci is
unable to continue due to work commitments. Will Fernandez would like to continue on the
Noise Forum.
Committee members discussed that, while they are willing to consider reappointments of these
individuals, they would also like to see if there is interest from others in the community for
these appointments. And, an appointment to replace Dennis Rosucci will be necessary. The
Committee directed staff to advertise for these appointments and see what interest there is from
others who may wish to serve.
Recommendations:
None
