Pedestrian Improvements -Sidewalk 09-10 <br />Awaxd of Contract 2 December 21, 2009 <br />On December 7, 2009 five (5) bids were received. Upon staff review, two (2) bids were found to <br />be non-responsive for reasons detailed in the Bid Summary. Each contractor submitted a bid <br />providing a calculated unit cost for the quantity of work that could be performed for $21,000. <br />The bids ranged from 2,000 linear feet at a unit cost of $10.50 per linear foot to 3,811 linear feet <br />at a unit cost of $5.50 per linear foot. RP Engineering Contractors submitted the highest quantity <br />bid in the amount of 3,811 linear feet at the lowest unit cost of $5.51 per linear foot, which has <br />been determined to be a responsive bid. <br />Previous City Council Action(s) <br />On November 2, 2009, by Resolution No. 2009-145, the City Council approved the <br />specifications and called for bids for the subject project. <br />Applicable General Plan Policy <br />14.07 Pedestrian Environment. <br />Environmental Review <br />The project has been determined to be Categorically Exempt under the California Environmental <br />Quality Act (CEQA). <br />Summary of Public Outreach Efforts <br />Not applicable; project enhances existing facilities with no negative impact to the public. <br />Fiscal Impact <br />The total cost of the Pedestrian Improvements -Sidewalk 09-10 project is $24,000. <br />Budget Authority <br />Pedestrian Accessibility Improvements (TDA funds) have been allocated in the Fiscal Year <br />2009-2010 budget in the amount of $25,000 (Account No. 150-36-289). <br />Attachments <br />Bid Summary <br />CONCLUSION <br />Staff recommends award of contract to RP Engineering Contractors in the amount of $21,000 at <br />a unit cost of $5.51 per linear foot for the subject project. <br />IC\AA-C\COLJNCIL~2009\7 JUL 20\Wicks Award MEM.DOCX <br />
