Resolution Endorsing the Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL) City Campaign <br />Launched by the League of California Cities, Cities, Counties, School Partnership and <br />the California Center for Public Health Advocacy to Set Forth the City of San Leandro's <br />Commitment to Obesity Prevention (promotes community wellness by implementing <br />policies and procedures that promote healthy eating and active living). <br />Recreation and Human Services Director Carolyn Knudtson commented on the efforts <br />by the City to promote health and wellness. Ms. Knudtson introduced Charlotte Dixon, <br />Coordinator of the HEAL City Campaign. Ms. Dixon reported that San Leandro would <br />be the 16~' California city to endorse the HEAL campaign, and she commended the City <br />for its leadership in the area of community wellness. She pointed out that adopting <br />policies to improve the physical activity and nutritional environment will result in <br />savings and benefits to the City in the long run. <br />Councilmember Gregory commented on the City's actions, including the proposed <br />smoking ordinance and the Downtown Transit Oriented Development Strategy, to <br />create a safe and healthy environment for its residents. <br />Councilmember Prola commended City staff for bringing the HEAL campaign to San <br />Leandro.
