The four to five story parking structure will include approximately <br />2,000 sq. ft. of retail along Estudillo Avenue and enhancements will be made to <br />Plaza Del Oro, the pedestrian entry to the garage. This garage will replace the <br />current 215 space garage which is seismically unstable, not ADA accessible and 3 <br />of insufficient size to meet downtown parking needs. Garage construction has <br />been postponed until Spring 2010 in the hopes that Federal stimulus funding will <br />be available to upgrade the facility to include an electric vehicle battery swap and <br />recharge stations. <br />The Scribner Center/Englander Restaurant received a major upgrade with new <br />paint, an expanded outdoor dining area, upgraded entrances, a 20 foot sidewalk <br />and decorative landscaping. The new Grocery Outlet build-out included <br />substantially improved landscaping at the new grocery store located at 2179 E. <br />14th Street. The Agency contributed financially to both of these projects. <br />Agency worked with the property owner the Eden Center to design a variety of <br />de improvements which include new paint, signage and restoring the historic <br />ument sign. <br />Work began on undergrounding the above-ground utility lines along East 14th from <br />150th Avenue south to the City border. Project completion is projected for late <br />2010. The undergrounding on East 14th Street from 150th north was expanded to <br />Thornton Street and design work continued on this phase which is expected to be <br />completed in 2014. <br />~e seasonal Downtown Farmers Market continued to draw crowds with the <br />ierage weekly patronage increasing to 1,700. Additional elements of the market <br />cluded cooking demonstrations, green market days, family days and wine <br />West San Leandro/MacArthur Boulevard Project Area <br />In June 2009, the Agency joined the East Bay Green Corridor, a regional <br />partnership committed to strengthening the green technology economy while <br />reaching sustainability goals. The partners include the cities of Alameda, Albany, <br />Berkeley, EI Cerrito, Emeryville, Oakland, Richmond, and San Leandro and the <br />following academic and research institutions: University of California, Berkeley; <br />Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory; California State University, East Bay; <br />Peralta Community College District; Contra Costa Community College District. <br />The Agency will work to attract green businesses to opportunity sites which mainly <br />Achievement Information (Unaudited) Page 4 12/17/2009 <br />
