Hollister, City Manager <br />FROM: <br />BY: <br />APPROVED AND <br />FORWARDED <br />TO CITY COUNCIL <br />Justinian Caire, Human Resources Direc~~~ <br />Human Resources Department <br />Yana Taran, Human Resources Analyst r;; ~~ <br />Human Resources Department ~ <br />SUBJECT PROJECT/PROJECT DESCRIPTION: <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING THE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN <br />THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO AND THE SAN LEANDRO MANAGEMENT <br />ORGANIZATION (SLMO). <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br />It is recommended that the City Council approve a resolution ratifying the Memorandum of <br />Understanding between the City of San Leandro and the San Leandro Management Organization <br />covering the period of January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The San Leandro Management Organization represents approximately 48 full and part-time <br />management employees throughout the organization. The previous Memorandum of <br />Understanding covered the period January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2009. <br />The City commenced negotiations for a successor labor agreement with SLMO representatives <br />on October 23, 2009. On January 26, 2010, the negotiators reached a tentative agreement to <br />extend the agreement for one year with minor modifications. The agreement was ratified by the <br />employees and is being presented to the City Council for its approval. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The major elements of the tentative agreement include the following: <br />Duration: 1 year, starting January 1, 2010 and ending December 31, 2010. <br />Wages: No increase during the term of the agreement. <br />Stephen L. Hollister <br />City Manager <br />Benefits: Continuation of current medical and dental benefits; employee medical <br />and dental contribution to remain at the same level as in 2009. Employees <br />to pay 50% of the increase for 2011. <br />
