She noted that they have a lot of overlapping responsibilities, and that other <br />counties have combined the two agencies. <br /> <br />Mayor Santos expressed concern that some of the CMA/ACTIA employees would lose <br />their jobs as a result of the merger of the two agencies. He also pointed out that ACTIA <br />was voter approved, while CMA was legislatively approved; however, voters would not <br />have a say in the merger. <br /> <br />Councilmember Prola reported on the recent meetings of the Oakland Airport <br />Community Noise Management Forum and East Bay Dischargers Authority (EBDA). <br />He reported that City Attorney Emeritus Steve Meyers is one of three finalists for <br /> <br /> <br />Councilmember Gregory reported that he attended the AC Transit BRT (Bus Rapid <br />Transit) Policy Steering Committee meeting, and it was reported at the meeting that AC <br />Transit may receive an additional $15 million in federal funding for BRT. <br /> <br />Mayor Santos reported that he attended the ACTIA meeting, and commented on the <br />issues the agency will face if its revenues fall below $85 million, as they are projected to <br />do. <br /> <br /> <br />B.Reports on Conferences and Seminars <br /> <br />Mayor Santos reported on his trip to the U.S. Conference of Mayors in Washington, <br />D.C. <br /> <br /> <br />C.Reports on City Council Committees <br /> <br /> <br />1.Business and Housing Development Committee Meeting of January 14, 2010. <br />Accepted as submitted. <br /> <br /> <br />Councilmember Prola stated that he disagreed with the cost reduction for the <br />permit parking at the commenting that it was a <br />disincentive to using public transportation. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Starosciak pointed out that one of the goals of the downtown parking <br />was to encourage employees to park farther from retail centers in order to keep the <br />closer spaces available for customers. <br /> <br />Councilmember Souza stated she is glad to see the Nike clearance store coming to <br />Marina Square, and that Ridge Foundry will be getting a makeover. <br /> <br />Mayor Santos commented on The Vine Restaurant and Yogofina, two new <br />businesses that will be coming to Downtown San Leandro. He addressed the <br />comments about homeless people in the commercial areas, stating that the County <br />is working to address the lack of homeless shelters for men. <br /> <br /> <br />
