DRAFT MINUTES
Page 4
February 16, 2010
City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting

10. ACTION ITEMS

Public comments are limited to 3 minutes per speaker per item, subject to adjustment by the
Mayor.

A.Matter of Public Notice of the Cost Estimate to Execute Government Code Section
lden
for 19 job classifications).

City Manager Hollister reported that the City proposes to offer another round of
retirement incentive to selected employees, as a means to avoid layoffs. Nineteen job
classifications have been identified. Of the 36 eligible employees in these
classifications, approximately 30-35% will likely accept the incentive. Mr. Hollister
noted that when the incentive was offered last year, 42% of eligible employees accepted
the offer.

Human Resources Director Justinian Caire presented information on the proposed
program. He reported that in the identified classifications, employees aged 50 or older
with at least five years of City service are eligible for the retirement incentive. The
dollar figure reported represents the savings that would be realized if all the eligible
employees took the offer, and their positions remained unfilled.

Mr. Caire and Mr. Hollister responded to questions from the Council.

Minute Order No. 2010-015
, Motion Accepting Report Giving Public Notice of
Provisions of the City of
Government Code Section 20903.
