CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />MEMORANDUM <br />Date: February 22, 2010 <br />To: City Council Rules and Communications Committee <br />From: Lianne Marshall, Assistant City Manager 1 ~•~' <br />By: Marian Handa, City Clerk~~ <br />Subject: DISCUSSION REGARDING PROPOSED CHANGES TO THE CITY <br />COUNCIL AGENDA FORMAT <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff proposes changes to the current format of the City Council agenda to allow more efficient <br />reporting of the Council's activities. The Committee is requested to review, discuss and revise <br />the proposed format, and recommend changes to the full City Council. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Item 11-City Council Reports, and Item 12-City Council Comments, of the current City <br />Council agenda, are devoted to the Council's reports and comments on intergovernmental agency <br />meetings, Council committee meetings, attendance at conferences and seminars, and other <br />activities and items of interest. <br />The current agenda format, while providing multiple opportunities for Councilmembers to report <br />on their activities, does not cover every topic on which members may want to report or comment. <br />Councilmembers have at times expressed uncertainty about where on the agenda to report on a <br />particular item. Streamlining the structure of the agenda would allow all reports to be made under <br />a single item, thereby eliminating this uncertainty. <br />The following format changes are proposed: <br />• CURRENT: 1 l.A.-Reports on Intergovernmental Agencies, 11.B.-Reports on <br />Conferences and Seminars, and 12-City Council Comments <br />• PROPOSED: Combine the above items into Item 11-City Council Reports and <br />Announcements <br />• CURRENT: 11.C.-Reports on City Council Committees <br />• PROPOSED: Include Council Committee Reports on Consent Calendar <br />Attachments <br />• Current and Proposed City Council agenda format <br />
