MINUTES Page 5 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-February 16, 2010 <br />Councilmember Souza. reported on the recent meeting of the Associated Community <br />Action Program (ACAP), and the Alameda County Waste Management Authority <br />(StopWaste.org) Administrative and Operations meeting, which she attended in the <br />Mayor's absence. <br />Councilmember Prola reported on the recent meeting of the Alameda County Mosquito <br />Abatement District, noting that mosquito activity is still slow. He suggested that the <br />City issue its request for the annual Statement of Economic Interests, so that all the <br />agency filings can be completed at once. <br />Mayor Santos reported on the upcoming retirement of Bruce Kern, Executive Director <br />of the East Bay Economic Development Alliance (EDA). Mayor Santos was appointed <br />to the EDA's membership committee. Mayor Santos also reported that the East Bay <br />Dischargers Authority Board is still in the process of interviewing for its new legal <br />counsel. <br />B. Reports on Conferences and Seminars <br />None. <br />C. Reports on City Council Committees <br />1. City and. San Leandro Unified School District Liaison Committee Meeting of <br />January 21, 2010. Accepted as submitted. <br />Councilmember Gregory noted the depressing budget news reported by both <br />agencies. <br />2. Shoreline-Marina Committee Meeting of January 26, 2010. Accepted as <br />submitted. <br />Councilmember Prola reiterated the statement he made at the Committee meeting, <br />stating that he did not want any golf course land destroyed to build homes. <br />12. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br />Councilmember Reed commented on her attendance at the San Leandro High School Career <br />Day, sponsored by the African American Business Council and Latino Business Council. She <br />expressed disappointment that the participating students were not interested in government <br />careers. <br />Vice Mayor Starosciak commented on the use of the former Albertson's site on East 14th <br />Street as a parking lot, suggesting that the "private parking" signs be removed and new signs <br />erected that advertise free all-day parking. Vice Mayor Starosciak pointed out that the current <br />City Council has not had the opportunity to discuss the BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) policy for <br />San Leandro, and that it would be helpful for her and Councilmember Gregory, as members <br />
