City and San Leandro Unified School District Liaison Committee
March 18, 2010
Page 4
Councilmember Gregory announced that May is National Bike Month and that there will
be many events throughout the East Bay, with Bike to Work Day on May 13. (Handout
attached.) He expressed concern of overly congested northbound and southbound traffic on
Bancroft Avenue of cars picking up students at San Leandro High School and urged
District staff to encourage able students to walk or bike to and from school.
Councilmember Gregory continued to give a report on a recent trip to Washington, D.C. for
the National League of Cities Conference, in which he, Councilmembers Reed and Souza
and the City Manager met with the City's various legislative representatives to lobby for
three City projects, i.e., expansion of the Police Department Dispatch Center; completion
of the Bay Trail Project at the Marina; and the development of the Triangle Property at
150' Avenue and Hesperian Boulevard.
Councilmember Reed added that she felt the trip was a success, as all the legislative
representatives were positive and open to discussions on City projects.
District Board Chair Katz-Lacabe announced various District events.
7. Adjournment
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 5:29 p.m.
