City Council Rules and Communications Committee <br />March 23, 2010 <br />Page ~2 <br />The Committee directed staff to work with the other partner agencies to obtain their concurrence <br />with the naming of the bridge. <br />Committee Recommendation: <br />The Committee recommends that the City Council schedule consideration of naming the Bay <br />Trail Bridge in honor of Bill Lockyer. <br />2. Update on November Election and Ranked Choice Voting <br />Ms. Handa reviewed with the Committee the actions taken thus far to prepare for the November <br />election, including the outreach and education plan to prepare voters to use Ranked Choice Voting <br />(RCV). Ms. Williams reported on the complaint filed against the City and County of San Francisco <br />and its RCV system, noting that it had no effect on Alameda County's use of RCV. <br />Ms. Handa proposed providing additional election and .candidate information on the new City <br />website, including campaign committee financial statements, candidate photos, and a list of <br />candidate forums. There was consensus by the Committee to include this information on the new <br />City website. <br />3. Public Comments <br />None. <br />4. Committee Member Comments <br />Committee Member Prola stated his confidence in the RCV system, which received approval for <br />use by the Secretary of State. <br />Chair Santos commented on the many discussions by the Committee regarding the naming of a <br />facility after former Mayor Val Gill. The Committee agreed to bring the matter back for discussion <br />at the next meeting, and include a discussion on the naming/renamingpnlicy. <br />5.
