MTC TDA FY10-11 2
Analysis
19, 2010
Annually, the City applies for TDA grant funds from the MTC for pedestrian improvements
throughout the city. The City is entitled to $18,511 for this next fiscal year (FY 2010-11).
Additionally, the City will request $30,000 of the FY 2011-12 allocation for a total allocation of
$48,51 1. The City is able to request early allocation because some Alameda County jurisdictions
are not using their allocations this year.
The TDA funds will be used to install the following: handicap ramps; sidewalk; sidewalk bulb-
outs; pedestrian safety signage; accessible pedestrian traffic signals; and lighted crosswalks at
various locations citywide. The work is typically completed as part of the City's Annual
Sidewalk Repair project. Grant funds will be used to finance the improvements prior to receipt
of the TDA funds. The grant fund account will be reimbursed by the funds received from the
TDA grant.
Previous City Council Action(s)
• The City Council annually authorizes staff to apply for these funds
• On May 4, 2009, by Resolution No. 2009-059, the City Council authorized the filing of a
claim with the MTC for allocation of TDA Article 3 funds for FY 2009-10
Applicable General Plan Policy
This project is consistent with the Bicycle and Pedestrian Goal (14) of the General Plan and
Action 14.07-B: Pedestrian and Bicycle Crossing Improvements.
Environmental Review
This project is Categorically Exempt from the CEQA process.
Fiscal Impact
This TDA grant request is for $48,511
Appropriation of the $48,511 will be requested as part of the 2010-11 CIP budget
Once spending is complete, the City will be reimbursed the entire $48,511

Perry Carter, Finance Director
