Toyon Park Playground Sitework, P&S <br />Summary of Public Outreach Efforts <br />3, 2010 <br />The KaBOOM! design process requires that a local non-profit partner with the City to raise <br />funds for the project, outreach to the community, bring in volunteers and provide co-chairs for <br />the many planning committees. The City received support from the local Rotary Foundation for <br />this project. As part of the planned Design Day in June, a community workshop will be held to <br />solicit input from the community that will become the basis for the selection of the playground <br />equipment. <br />Fiscal Impact <br />The preliminary cost of the Sitework preparation included in the subject project is $50,000. A <br />final engineer's estimate of the work will be available after the plans are completed. A request <br />for appropriation of funds will be made at the time of award of this project. <br />Budget Authority <br />As part of the Measure WW funding, an application was submitted to the District in the amount <br />of $435,000. The application is currently being processed. This grant funding is included in the <br />proposed Capital Improvement Program (CIP) in the 2010-2011 budget. If final approval is <br />received from the District prior to the award of this work, Measure WW funds will be used. If <br />these funds are not yet available, Park Development funds will be requested and adjustments <br />made in the proposed CIP budget. <br />CONCLUSION <br />Staff recommends authorizing the City Manager to approve plans and specifications and call for <br />bids on the subject project. <br />G:\_Admin\COLJNCIL\2010\5 MAY 3\Toyon Park Playground -BIDS\Toyon Park Playground MEM.Doc <br />
