KaBOOM! Community Partner Agreement 2 May 17, 2010
site, the City Council had reviewed the Draft Community Partner Agreement and was prepared
to sign the final Community Partner Agreement.
Board/Commission Findings
The Recreation and Parks Commission was informed of the KaBOOM! application at the April
7, 2010 Commission meeting.
Summary of Public Outreach Efforts
A tremendous amount of Public Outreach will be done in determining the design as well as
recruiting volunteers for building the project, now that the City's Project has been selected.
Fiscal Impact
Should the Rotary Club be unable to raise the $7,500 required by KaBOOM!, the Measure WW
funds authorized to renovate Toyon Park will be used. Those funds will also be used to meet the
site preparation responsibilities of the Community Partner (the City).
Budget Authority
Not applicable.
Attachments
None.
CONCLUSION
The City and Rotary Club of San Leandro submitted an application to have Toyon Park
considered as a KaBOOM! project site for a community design and build playground.
KaBOOM!'s funding partner, Amgen, selected the Toyon Park site. Staff recommends that the
City Council approve the Community Partner Agreement in order to begin the process of
designing and constructing, with community involvement, a playground at Toyon Park.
C:\Documents and Settings\cknudtson\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.0utlook\7J9LYM8L\Staff
Report City Council KaBOOM final draft agreement (2).docx Last revised on 11/01/2009
