Hollister City Manager e Services Manager Department SUBJECT PROJECT/PROJECT DESCRIPTION: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A LAND LEASE AGREEMENT WITH THE OPTIMIST CLUB OF SAN LEANDRO OVER A PORTION OF LAND LOCATED AT APN 077A-0649-009 AND APN 077A-0649-010 SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends approval for the City Manager, or his designee, to enter into a land lease agreement with the Optimist Club of San Leandro for the gun range located at 3001 Davis Street; a portion of APN 077A-0649-009 and APN 077A-0649-010. BACKGROUND The City entered into a 20 -year land lease with the Optimist Club on May 1, 1992. The Optimist Club, at its own expense, then built the facility now known as the San Leandro Gun Club. The current lease expires on April 30, 2012. The Optimist Club approached the City and requested a new lease that will commence at the expiration of the current lease. The new lease agreement will allow the Optimist Club to obtain loan funding for improvements planned for the facility. Analysis The new lease terms include an increase in rent from the current $200 per year to $500 per year. The initial term of the lease is for 5 years and will commence on May 1, 2012. There are three (3) five-year renewal options at the mutual agreement of both parties. At the beginning of each of these renewal periods, the rent will be re -negotiated. Also included in the new lease is a provision to allow free access to the gun range by City of San Leandro Police officers. Finally, the new lease addresses the need to grant property rights to the
