^ Davis Street lane modifications to be completed under CMA's I-880 HOV <br />project <br />^ City to poll area residents and property owners on desire for pedestrian <br />overcrossing over Davis Street at Timothy /Warden <br />Discussion ensued regarding Westgate Parkway. Uche Udemezue explained that City <br />will outreach to the community. If the residents don't want the overcrossing, the project <br />will not move forward and the remaining funds will go back to ACTIA or may be applied <br />to another project in San Leandro. Ken Joseph commented that at a neighborhood <br />meeting last year, the response was lukewarm. The main concern at the time for <br />residents was school kids crossing Davis Street. <br />2. Discussion Regarding Optimist Club Lease of Gun Range <br />Uche Udemezue introduced Tara Peterson, Administrative Analyst in Engineering and <br />Transportation who discussed the Optimist Club lease of the gun range property. Tara <br />explained that the lease is going to expire in 2012 and that City is considering extending <br />the lease. The Optimist Club is requesting another lease. City is discussing five years <br />with three to five year renewal periods. Tara stated that rent is currently $200 per year <br />and that $500 per year has been discussed. There are restrictions of the property and on <br />activities. It has been .discussed that police department staff would use the range for <br />practice. Staff would like to bring the lease to the full Council on June 7th. Discussion <br />ensued. <br />Committee Recommendation <br />Move forward to take to the City Council on June 7, 2010. <br />3. Discussion Regarding Sanitary Sewer Lateral Reconnection <br />Uche Udemezue gave an overview of the Sanitary Sewer Lateral Reconnection program. <br />Ken Joseph gave a PowerPoint presentation and explained that some sanitary sewer lines <br />were constructed in backyards without easements, some directly under homes and other <br />structures. There have been problems requiring replacement of these lines. Some <br />solutions require relocating the sewer in street rights of way. Discussion ensued. <br />Mayor Santos stated that residents are going to expect the City to pay a good portion of <br />the costs associated. Uche explained that staff would have individual meetings with <br />property owners and explain a possible loan program to ease the burden. The City would <br />not do the work. Property owners will find contractors and be responsible for having the <br />work completed. Ken stated that staff is looking for a policy, as this situation exists in <br />more than this one area. Further discussion ensued. Mayor Santos suggested that staff <br />speak with Councilmember Stephens, as the current issue being discussed is in his <br />District. Get him involved with how staff should proceed before going to the full City <br />Council. <br />
