MINUTES Page 11 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-May 17, 2010 <br />Councilmember Prola attended "Dream Big" at the Bal Theater; the Downtown Farmers' <br />Market; the Building Futures with Women and Children fundraiser; the Bill Lockyer Bay <br />Trail Slough Bridge opening; a meeting regarding the potential bond measure for Burrell <br />Field; a meeting of the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District; the Estabrook Place <br />tour; and the Aloha Pet Services annual picnic. Councilmember Prola supported <br />Councilmember Stephens' request to consider a ban on plastic foam takeout containers. <br />Councilmember Stephens commented on the Bill of Rights, and expressed his appreciation <br />for the right to exercise freedom of speech. <br />Councilmember Souza announced that Saturday, September 18 is the date for the KaBOOM! <br />Build Day at Toyon Park. She attended Estabrook Place housing tour, and a TechLink <br />Advisory Board meeting with Councilmember Starosciak at Arroyo High School. <br />Councilmember Gregory reported that he met with a group of school officials to discuss <br />volunteer opportunities for the residents of Estabrook Place. He stated that he would like to <br />work with Councilmembers Souza and Prola to implement Safe Routes to School at Wilson <br />and Muir Schools. Councilmember Gregory commented on Hazel Soares, a 94 year-old <br />graduate of Mills College; and he requested that tonight's meeting be adjourned in memory of <br />Yuko Yaegashi. <br />Mayor Santos reported that he was elected Vice President of the Alameda County Mayors <br />Conference. He announced that tonight's meeting would be adjourned in memory of Yoko <br />Yaegashi, a local artist, musician and teacher; Frank Doral, a 33-year resident of San Leandro; <br />and Bob Nolte, who headed Portuguese Immigrant Week. <br />12.
