I-880/Washington Ave. Interchange Improvements (ACTIA 11) <br />Acceptance of Work 2 <br />June 21, 2010 <br />• Improvements to the I-880 on-ramp <br />• Addition of a second lane on Beatrice Street between Washington Avenue and the I-880 <br />off-ramp <br />• Reconfiguration of the westbound Washington Avenue at Beatrice Street intersection to <br />stop traffic weaving in and out when vehicles are entering the I-880 on-ramp and local <br />traffic is accessing the neighborhood to the north <br />• Addition of a second left turn lane on westbound Washington Avenue for accessing the <br />Greenhouse Marketplace at Fargo Avenue <br />• Reconfiguration of the Washington Avenue at Fargo Avenue intersection <br />• Signal modifications at both the Washington Avenue at Beatrice Street and Washington <br />Avenue at Fargo Avenue intersections <br />• Pedestrian accessibility improvements within the project area <br />The Washington Avenue Overlay project rehabilitated pavement on Washington Avenue starting <br />at the base of the I-880 overpass and extending south toward the City limits at San Lorenzo <br />Creek. <br />Current City Council Policy <br />To improve and maintain the City roadways. <br />Previous City Council Action(s) <br />• On May 1, 2000, by Resolution No. 2000-63, the City Council recommended that Alameda <br />County place Measure B (extension of the'/2 cent sales tax for transportation projects) on the <br />November ballot <br />• On March 18, 2002, by Resolution No. 2002-35, the City Council authorized the City <br />Manager to enter into a Master Funding Agreement with ACTIA for Measure B <br />Programmatic Pass-Through Funds <br />• On July 1, 2002, by Resolution No. 2002-096, the City Council authorized the City Manager <br />to enter into a Master Funding Agreement with ACTIA for Measure B capital project funds <br />• On September 16, 2002, by Resolution 2002-137, the City Council amended the Master <br />Funding Agreement with ACTIA to include the I-880/Washington Avenue Interchange <br />Improvements project <br />• On July 7, 2003, the City Council heard City staff s recommended alternative(s) and the item <br />was continued to the July 21, 2003 meeting <br />• On July 21, 2003, by Resolution 2003-184, the City Council endorsed Alternative 1 (Beatrice <br />Street with Traffic Signals) with Alternative 4 (Beatrice Street Traffic Signals with a Double <br />Left Turn Lane at Northbound Washington Avenue) as a potential future phase <br />• On June 20, 2005, by Resolution 2005-092, the City Council approved a design contract with <br />Mark Thomas for the preparation of construction documents <br />• On February 21, 2006, by Resolution No. 2006-020, the City Council authorized the City <br />Manager to apply for funding for the Washington Avenue Overlay project <br />
