f. Main Street Property Services: Battenberg informed the committee that the consulting <br />services agreement with Main Street Property Services (MSPS) will expire on June 30, <br />2010. Staff is currently working with MSPS to complete the latest round of outreach <br />materials for the "We Are San Leandro" campaign. <br />g. Lowes: Sims informed the Committee that Peterson Tractor has been looking to relocate to <br />a modern facility in Livermore for many years, but has been unable make the move <br />financially feasible without selling its San Leandro property. Lowes has been interested in <br />opening a store in San Leandro for approximately 10 .years, and has looked at the Peterson <br />site, however they would need to partner with another. retailer or developer as the parcel is <br />much too large to develop as just a Lowes store. <br />2. Update on the Commercial Facade Improvement Program <br />Development Specialist Ricard explained that in March 2009 the Committee recommended <br />increasing the Agency contribution of Commercial Facade Improvement Program to better meet <br />the needs of businesses during the economic slowdown. The program reimbursement was <br />increased from 50% to 75% of the total project cost, the $50,000 maximum Agency contribution <br />was not increased. <br />Ricard explained that this increase which has been very beneficial in encouraging businesses to <br />participate in the program. With businesses such as Liberty Tax, DC Dance, Mike's Feed and <br />Pets, Palma Plaza, Ridge Foundry and the Best Building at various stages of design or <br />construction due to the 75% Agency contribution. <br />The increased Agency contribution is set to expire on June 30, 2010 but due to the economy and <br />the increased participation created by altering the program staff is recommending extending the <br />75% contribution until December 31St <br />The Committee directed staff to extend the increased agency contribution of 75% of the total <br />project cost for all Commercial Rehabilitation Program projects through December 31, 2010. <br />3. Chamber of Commerce Quarterly Report - January/February/March 2010 <br />Mr. Johnson provided the Committee with the Chamber's quarterly report (see attached <br />memorandum). He spoke appreciatively about the City and Chamber's partnership in these <br />efforts particularly with the Careers in Industrial Technology. <br />The Committee. discussed the syllabus and industries to be targeted in the Careers in Industrial <br />Technology. <br />Mr. Johnson answered questions regarding the Chamber's outreach with new and existing <br />businesses, explaining that the Ambassador Program has been reworked and expanded in order <br />to better perform this outreach function. <br />
