Downtown San Leandro Walking Tour Stops <br />Future Mixed Use Development - 1550 East 14tH Street, home of the former Albertsons, was <br />purchased by the Redevelopment Agency in 2009 and will be used as a temporary parking lot <br />during the construction of the downtown parking garage. The Agency is working with the <br />Innisfree Companies, developer of the Creekside Plaza, to develop a mixed use project <br />consistent with the City's award-winning Transit Oriented Development Strategy (TOD <br />Strategy). <br />2. 1595 Washington Ave (and 268 Parrott Street) -The Redevelopment Agency owns this <br />approximately 20,000 sq ft lot and is currently working with Langon Homes to develop a <br />mixed use residential project with retail on the ground floor along Washington Avenue. <br />3. Joaquin Plaza -This community plaza was completed in 2009 as part of the second phase of <br />the Downtown San Leandro Pedestrian and Lighting Improvement Project. Outdoor dining <br />and use of the space for community events is encouraged. <br />4. Historic Plaza- This redesigned plaza, including fountain, bus stop and history board were <br />part of the first phase of the Downtown San Leandro Pedestrian and Lighting Improvement <br />Project. These improvements and the stately palm trees welcome people from East 14tH <br />Street into the shopping center. <br />5. Parking Garage -The City is planning to construct a LEED certified, ADA compliant and <br />seismically sound four or five-story garage, including an improved entry from East 14tH <br />Street through the Plaza del Oro. Construction of the garage is scheduled to begin in October <br />2010 and take 18-24 months to complete. <br />6. Town Hall Square -This complex site is being actively explored for development consistent <br />with the City's TOD Strategy. The Redevelopment Agency owns four of the seven parcels <br />and is working with the Innisfree Companies and the surrounding business and property <br />owners. A portion of the site will be used as a temporary parking lot during the construction <br />of the downtown parking garage. <br />7. BART/Downtown Pedestrian Connection -This enhanced connection between BART and the <br />downtown includes the undergrounding of utilities, new lighting, sidewalks, crosswalks and <br />kiosks highlighting San Leandro's history. An Art & History Museum along with the <br />historic Casa Peralta line this attractive pedestrian avenue. <br />8. Creekside Plaza -This award-winning, class A office complex ten years in the making was <br />completed in March 2010. The final 83,000 sq ft building welcomed 265 new employees to <br />Downtown San Leandro. Creekside Bistro is now open and serving breakfast and lunch. <br />9. The Crossings -The seven acres around the San Leandro BART station, including the BART <br />surface parking lot, has three projects in the planning stages. <br />• The Alameda, afour-story 100-unit affordable housing development. <br />• The Cornerstone, a 200 unit, market rate residential project <br />• BART parking to replace a11329 parking spaces. <br />
