The public is invited to make comments on items of public interest listed on the Agenda. Rose Johnson and Tina Medina, Davis Street Family Resource Center, addressed the City Council, urging the Council to adopt the resolution, cut funding for child care services in California. 6. CITY MANAGER AND CITY ATTORNEY REPORTS AND COMMENTS None. 7. AMENDMENT OF CONSENT CALENDAR City Councilmembers or staff have an opportunity at this time to request that an item be removed from the Consent Calendar for the presentation of a staff report or other special consideration. Members of the Public may request the opportunity to address the City Council regarding items remaining on the Consent Calendar by filling out a speaker card and submitting it to the City Clerk prior to the calling of Item 7, Amendment of Consent Calendar. Items remaining on the Consent Calendar will be considered for approval under one motion. Regarding Item 8.N., Mayor Santos commented that he has experienced three near-accidents due to cars getting caught in the left-turn lane while trying to proceed eastbound on Washington at Fargo. He requested that staff take a look at the situation. Councilmember Souza stated that she has received requests from two residents to have one of the left-turn lanes at Washington and Fargo be converted to a through lane. Regarding Item 8.H., Councilmember Starosciak commented that the City is fortunate that, in these economic times, the Community Development Block Grant program has continued to be funded by the federal government. She expressed appreciation for the Human Services Commiwork to decide how the funding would be allocated. Councilmember Starosciak thanked staff for finding a way, through the use of CDBG funding, to help Davis Street Family Resource Center purchase its building. Consent Calendar was amended to remove Item 8.D. Item will be considered under Item 9, Items Removed from Consent Calendar.
