IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2001 - 6 7 (1841) <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING APPLICATION <br />AND APPROPRIATION OF FEDERAL COPS IN SCHOOLS <br />GRANT MONIES FOR FISCAL YEARS 2001-02 THROUGH 2003-04 <br />(Provides for a Total of $125,000 to Fund an Additional School <br />Resource Officer in San Leandro. Schools) <br />WHEREAS, the City and the San Leandro Police Department recognize the <br />continuing need for on-site Police presence in our schools and the front-line community- <br />policing efforts; and recognize that presence as an investment in the future of our <br />community's children: <br />WHEREAS, the San Leandro Police Department desires to expand the School <br />Resource Officer Program, which may be partially funded from monies available from <br />the Federal COPS in Schools Grant: <br />WHEREAS, the Federal COPS in Schools Grant will not supplant general fund <br />expenditures: <br />NOW, THERFORE, be it resolved that the Chief of Police of the City of San <br />Leandro is authorized in its behalf, to request these monies from the Federal COPS in <br />Schools Grant for an additional School Resource Officer for Fiscal Years 2001-02 <br />through 2003-04. <br />IT IS AGREED that funding continuation of this position will proceed for at least <br />one year beyond the grant as assumed by the Resolution, consistent with the City's <br />Charter, Ordinances and adopted budget, and that the City will establish a trust fund for <br />the grant monies. <br />
