Educational Incentive Program <br />Sworn employees with five (5) full years or more service with the San Leandro Police Department who are <br />not eligible for the Police Development Incentive Program, shall be eligible for the following educational <br />incentive program: <br />Category Certificate Monthly Amount <br />A P.I. 3% <br />B P.A. 5% <br /> or <br />C A.A. 3% <br />D Bac. 5% <br />Legend: P.I. = POST Intermediate <br /> P.A. = POST Advanced <br /> A.A. = Associate Degree <br /> Bac. = Baccalaureate <br />Maximum amount payable under the educational incentive program is 5%. Payment shall be made by <br />separate check on or before June 5 and December 5 or each calendar year. Such payments shall not <br />continue once an employee terminated employment as a sworn member of the San Leandro Police <br />Department. <br />In addition, employees in the PDIP program may elect to discontinue participation in that program and <br />participate in the educational incentive program set forth in this section. <br />7. For the period commencing July 1, 1995, Administrative Specialist-Police and Police Services Aides, Jailers <br />and Public Safety Dispatchers who are assigned for at least thirty (30) consecutive days to a duty assignment <br />which is required to be staffed twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week, shall receive a total of One <br />Hundred Dollars ($100) per month pay differential when so assigned. <br />For the period commencing July 1, 1995, the Police Services Aide who performs clerical duties in the <br />Investigation Division, the Police Services Aide who performs duties in the Warrants Section, and the Police <br />Services Aide who performs D.A. Court Liaison and witness duties shall receive a total of Twenty-five Dollars <br />($25) per month pay differential when so assigned. <br />8. For the period of time that a Public Safety Dispatcher or Police Services Aide is acting as a trainer, he/she shall <br />receive an additional five percent (5%) pay differential. <br />9. For the period commencing July 1, 1995, full-time Administrative Specialist-Police and Police Services Aides, <br />Public Safety Dispatchers, Jailers, and the Property and Evidence Technician who are required to maintain <br />uniforms shall be allowed a uniform allowance of Four Hundred Dollars ($400) per fiscal year. Effective <br />January 1, 2001, the uniform allowance shall increase to Four hundred Thirty-five Dollars ($435) per fiscal <br />year. <br />10. For the period March 1, 1998 through February 28, 2002, Police Officers assigned as canine handlers shall <br />receive a five percent (5%) pay differential when the officer and dog are certified as a team and are functioning <br />and on duty as a team in police patrol. The City shall provide a monthly maintenance allowance of One <br />Hundred Dollars ($100) for dogs assigned and performing in canine program. <br />15 <br />
