IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO RESOLUTION N0.2001 - 137 (1841) RESOLUTION REQUESTING APPLICATION AND APPROPRIATION OF FISCAL YEAR 2001 FEDERAL LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANT MONIES (Provides for a Total of $144,872 to Fund the School Resource Officer Program in San Leandro Schools During the City's Fiscal Year 2002-2003) WHEREAS, the City and the San Leandro Police Department recognize the continuing need for on-site Police presence in our schools; and recognize that presence as an investment in the future of our community's children; WHEREAS, the San Leandro Police Department desires to continue the School Resource Officer Program for fiscal year 2002-2003, which may be funded from monies available from the Fiscal Year 2001 Federal Local Law Enforcement Block Grant; WHEREAS, the Fiscal Year 2001 Federal Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Funds will not supplant general fund expenditures; NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Chief of Police of the City of San Leandro is authorized, in its behalf, to request these funds from the Fiscal Year 2001 Federal Local Law Enforcement Block Grant. IT IS AGREED that funding continuation of this program is assumed by the Resolution, consistent with the City's Charter, Ordinances and adopted budget, and that the City will establish a trust fund for the grant monies. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as follows: That said participation is hereby approved and authorized.
