Hollister <br />City Manager <br />RESOLUTION OF AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT TO GUERRA <br />CONSTRUCTION GROUP FOR THE PARK PATHWAYS (WW), PROJECT NO. 10-150-38- <br />306. <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br />This project provides for the removal and replacement of damaged asphalt concrete pathways at <br />six parks citywide. The work will also include rejuvenating undamaged asphalt concrete <br />pathways. <br />Staff recommends award of the construction contract to Guerra Construction Group in the <br />amount $441,739.75 for the subject project. <br />BACKGROUND <br />On March 2, 2009, the City received a grant from the East Bay Regional Parks District (EBRPD) <br />pursuant to Measure WW. After an extensive public input process, a number of park-related <br />projects were selected, including the Park Pathways project. This project includes: 1) removing <br />and replacing damaged asphalt concrete pathways; 2) rejuvenating undamaged asphalt concrete <br />pathways with slurry seal to extend their life spans; 3) upgrading ramps to meet Americans with <br />Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements; and 4) irrigation sleeves to coordinate efforts with future <br />projects. Pathways at the following parks are included in this project: Marina Park; Washington <br />Manor Park; Halcyon Park; Stenzel Park; Warden Park and Thrasher Park. <br />Analysis <br />A total of five (5) bids were received on July 8, 2010. The bids ranged from $441,739.75 to <br />$568,273.50, with Guerra Construction Group submitting the lowest bid in the amount of <br />
