(2096/1362/2888) <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE ACTION <br />PLAN FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) <br />FUNDS, FISCAL YEAR 2001-2002 ADDING THE SAN LEANDRO BOYS <br />& GIRLS CLUB LOCKER ROOM RENOVATION CAPITAL <br />IMPROVEMENT PROJECT (CIP) AND THE EAST 14TH STREET SOUTH <br />AREA DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY <br />Recitals <br />Through provisions of the Housing and Community Development Act and <br />amendments, the Federal Government has made. Community Development Block Grant <br />(CDBG) funding available to local communities to meet local community development <br />objectives. <br />The City of San Leandro has identified the need to make accessibility <br />improvements to the locker rooms at the Boys & Girls Club facility. <br />The City Council previously allocated $100,500 in FY 2001/2002 CDBG funds <br />for this project however based on the current cost estimates the total cost of the project is <br />approximately $249,000. The additional allocation of $80,000 in CDBG funds combined <br />with a $70,000 contribution from the Boys & Girls Club will result in the project having <br />sufficient funds to proceed. <br />The City of San Leandro has also identified the need to initiate a planning effort <br />called the East 14th Street South Area Development Strategy that will result in a <br />conceptual urban design and land use plans for the corridor and key development sites, <br />possible zoning changes, suggested regulatory and fiscal incentives for preferred <br />development, recommended public improvements, and guidelines for new development. <br />
