The project consists
of the preliminary and final alignment, topographical survey, soil testing, and a structure feasibility
analysis fora 300-foot bicycle/pedestrian bridge across the slough from Oyster Bay Regional Park to
property owned by the City of San Leandro on the north. The trail would extend from the bridge to
the portion of trail that will be designed and built by the Port of Oakland adjacent to Galbraith Golf
Course.
The completion of this phase of the project will enable the three agencies to undertake the
environmental assessment of the project and then the actual design and construction of the bridge.
The three agencies agree that this is a critical and highly visible link to the MLK to Oyster Bay trail
that will enable bicyclists to travel without interruption from MLK all the way south to the San
Mateo bridge.
San Francisco Bay Trail Project
Regional Development Program
1999 Grant Application
Page 7
