OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2000- 18 (1453 ) <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTING CENSUS 2000 <br />WHEREAS, the Census is important to every community in that it is used to draw the <br />lines of legislative districts and to reapportion the seats each state holds in Congress; and <br />WHEREAS, census information is used by the federal government to allocate funds to <br />state and local agencies, including federal money supporting schools, housing assistance, <br />programs for the elderly and youth, employment services, and more; and <br />WHEREAS, the census information provided by the public will be kept confidential by <br />the Census Bureau, federal law prohibits sharing of information on census forms with anyone <br />outside the Census Bureau; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Leandro recognizes the importance of the Census and has <br />committed to an accurate and complete count, placing special emphasis on counting everyone <br />living in the community; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as <br />follows: <br />
