Minutes - San Leandro City Council Meeting - April 15, 1996 Page - 17 - <br /> CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS (continued) <br /> Council Member Perry said her term has been a wonderful journey; she <br /> noted she has worked with 12 Council Members, 3 Mayors, and 2 City <br /> Managers. She said San Leandro has some of the best staff in <br /> California. She said it has been a great ride, and she was able to <br /> meet many people. She will continue to be an active member of the <br /> community. She thanked staff and her colleagues. <br /> E. Council Member Galvan congratulated staff for their work on the <br /> automall. He also commended Dan Gray and Tony Batarse for their <br /> investment in the city. <br /> Council Member Galvan said Larry Vasquez has contributed a lot to the <br /> City and has done a good job. He donated his time to the City and to <br /> a lot of charitable organizations. <br /> Council Member Galvan thanked Council Members Perry, Kerr, and Myers <br /> for all their help to him and said they will be missed. <br /> F. Mayor Corbett said there will be a reception on April 25th to honor the <br /> outgoing Council Members and thank them for all their hard work. She <br /> invited everyone to attend. <br /> G. City Manager Mike Oliver said he has known Mr. Silva for over 40 years. <br /> He was a wonderful man and contributed a lot to San Leandro. <br /> Mr. Oliver noted that Bob Taylor, Public Works Services Director, is <br /> retiring after more than 10 years of service to the City. He said Mr. <br /> Taylor has a great deal of credibility, technical expertise, and an <br /> easy way with people, and he thanked him for all his work. <br /> H. Mayor Corbett said Mr. Silva was an institution in the community and <br /> people came from all around to get their hair cut by him. <br /> 10.
