He said there should be more committees, more people <br /> should be brought into the process, and the Council should get input <br /> from everybody. <br /> C. Lavern Anderson, 1495 - 159th Avenue, thanked the Mayor, on behalf of <br /> the Bonaire Civic League, for speaking to them at their meeting. He <br /> congratulated her for the proclamation for Loyalty Day and thanked <br /> Council Member Polvorosa and Kathy Ornelas for preparing an article. <br /> D. Betsy Venters, 1322 Castro Street, asked if there is an assessment <br /> district placed on homeowners for underground utility districts. The <br /> City Attorney said there is no assessment district and explained the <br /> funding provided for utility districts by PG &E in accordance with PUC <br /> regulations.. <br /> E. Ken Arcia, Director of DCARA Deaf Community Center, thanked the City <br /> Council for funding in previous years and requested that they consider <br /> funding in the upcoming year as well. <br /> F. Dana Johnson, 343 Farrelly Drive, welcomed the new Council Members. He <br /> discussed a newspaper article saying Council Member Lothrop wished to <br /> address the needs of small businesses in her district, particularly <br /> those of color. Mr. Johnson said Council Member Lothrop represents all <br /> businesses in San Leandro, and he was appalled by her comments. <br /> G. Robert Murray, 281 Juana Avenue, said people cannot walk the streets in <br /> safety and no one is going to terrorize him. <br /> 6. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> Consent Calendar items are typically routine in nature and are considered <br /> for approval by the City Council with one single action. The City Council <br /> may remove items from the Consent Calendar for purposes of discussion. <br /> Items listed on the Consent Calendar are deemed to have been read by title. <br /> Item 6.A was removed from the Consent Calendar to New Business. The <br /> remaining items on the Consent Calendar were approved as follows: <br /> Introduced by Council Member Galvan, who moved adoption of the Consent <br /> Calendar, with all items deemed to have been read by title, seconded by <br /> Council Member Polvorosa, with Council Member Loeffler absent (1), and <br /> carried by a majority vote (6). <br /> A. Resolution Approving Contractual Services Agreement with MBH Architects <br /> Relating to City Parks Restroom Design (provides for design of a <br /> standard City park restroom and specific design for the replacement of <br /> the Marina Park Restroom buildings). Removed from the Consent Calendar <br /> to New Business. <br />
