Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and Page - 7 - <br /> Redevelopment Agency Meeting - September 16, 1996 <br /> 4.18 Susan Riskind - Poulsen, 182 Sunnyside Drive, said San Francisco <br /> has passed a tax on gross receipts. She said a 3% tax in San <br /> Leandro will place Traders at the same level as other <br /> businesses in the region. She commented on the impact to <br /> victims and families. She asked that any revenue go to <br /> counseling services in schools, hospitals, and shelters. She <br /> said East 14th Street is presumed to be dangerous due to the <br /> presence of gun dealers. She also commented on the possible <br /> closure of the Dutton Avenue Post Office and asked the City <br /> Council to intervene. The Mayor noted that a letter had been <br /> drafted to encourage the office to remain. <br /> 4.19 Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, said this was an <br /> exclusionary ordinance, and he opposes it. He noted a Daily <br /> Review article by Carey Walker. He also commented on <br /> Proposition 218 and the right to vote on taxes. He asked about <br /> the membership fees for the League of California Cities,. The <br /> Mayor responded that staff would forward the information to <br /> him. <br /> 5. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> Consent Calendar items are typically routine in nature and are <br /> considered for approval by the City Council with one single action. <br /> The City Council may remove items from the Consent Calendar for <br /> purposes of discussion. Items listed on the Consent Calendar are <br /> deemed to have been read by title. <br /> The Consent Calendar was approved as follows: <br /> M /S /C Loeffler and Galvan. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 <br /> 5.1 Resolution No. 96 -147, Resolution Approving Contractual <br /> Services Agreement with Safe Moves Relating to the Children's <br /> Component of the Pedestrian Safety Program. (2323) <br /> 5.2 Resolution No. 96 -148, Resolution Approving Contractual <br /> Services Agreement with the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce for <br /> Business Visitation Program (continues the joint City- Chamber <br /> program for on -going contact with local companies and <br /> interviews with company officials). (1190) <br /> 5.3 Resolution No. 96 -149, Resolution Approving Contractual <br /> Services Agreement with TJKM Transportation Consultants <br /> Relating to Professional Services from Gary E. Kruger (provides <br /> for professional Traffic Engineering services from TJKM <br /> Transportation Consultants). (2323) <br /> 5.4 Resolution No. 96 -150, Resolution of Award of Contract to <br /> McGuire and Hester for Marina Park Sanitary Lift Station <br /> Replacement, Project No. 96 -8614 (recommends award to the low <br /> bidder for bid amount of 5151,151.00).
