Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and Page - 2 - <br /> • Redevelopment Agency Meeting - December 2, 1996 <br /> 4. PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> Public Comments are limited to 5 minutes per person. The public is invited <br /> to make any comments related to Agenda items, or other items of public <br /> interest, at this time. <br /> 4.1 Richmond Marshall, 15014 Wengate Street, said he assumed the <br /> negotiations with Walmart are continuing and has some concerns about <br /> the impact to small businesses. He urges the Council to consider the <br /> matter carefully. He also noted that there were two senior - citizen <br /> holiday luncheons sponsored by several of the Commissions. He said <br /> he was disappointed that members from the Library - Historical <br /> Commission and the City Council did not attend or help with the <br /> event. <br /> Mayor Corbett noted that luncheons were provided at two locations. <br /> She said she and the Vice Mayor did attend and help out on behalf of <br /> the entire Council. <br /> Mayor Corbett noted that staff was recently directed to provide a <br /> report pertaining to the feasibility and impact of a potential <br /> Walmart. She said the report will be available when it has been <br /> completed <br /> 4.2 Carey Walker, 471 Santa Monica, asked if the City's fees increase <br /> every year. He noted Latchford Glass Company. He commented on an <br /> EBMUD assessment and that Proposition 218 will remove that <br /> assessment. <br /> Mayor Corbett clarified that Business License fees do not increase <br /> every year and noted that San Leandro's are the lowest in the County. <br /> 4.3 Rick Richards, 335 Peralta Avenue, on Behalf of Friends of the Creek, <br /> invited everyone to a Potluck Dinner on December 13, 1996, at 6:00 <br /> p.m. He said there will be a special presentation to Dennis Smith <br /> for his long -time support. <br /> 4.4 Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, commented on fees, sales taxes, <br /> and property taxes. He said the newspapers do not report accurately. <br /> He noted the November 8, 1996, meeting regarding the Islander <br /> Presentation at Strizzi's Restaurant and said no Minutes were taken. <br /> He said without Minutes, the public will not know what is happening. <br /> He suggested that Minutes be completed the following day. <br />
