IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 2001 - 023 (2143/1413) <br /> AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A <br /> SENIOR COMMISSION, AMENDING SECTION 1 -3 -100 AND 1 -3 -110 <br /> OF THE SAN LEANDRO MUNICIPAL CODE, AND ADDING TITLE I, <br /> CHAPTER 3, ARTICLE 15 TO THE SAN LEANDRO MUNICIPAL CODE <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the inestimable contribution our senior <br /> citizens have made and continue to make to our community; and <br /> WHEREAS, advancing age imposes unique burdens on our senior citizens; and <br /> WHEREAS, many senior citizens are nonetheless eager to remain active and <br /> engaged in community life; and <br /> WHEREAS this City Council seeks to respond more effectively to the special <br /> needs of senior citizens within the City of San Leandro; and <br /> WHEREAS, establishment of a commission to assess the situation of senior <br /> citizens within the City of San Leandro and recommend ways that the City Council can <br /> meet this goal by fostering the independence of seniors and meeting the social, health • <br /> and other needs of seniors. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does ORDAIN <br /> as follows: <br /> SECTION 1: <br /> Section 1 -3 -100 of the San Leandro Municipal Code is hereby amended as follows: <br /> 1 -3 -100 BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS CREATED. <br /> The following Boards and Commissions are hereby created: <br /> (a) Board of Appeals; <br /> (b) Board of Zoning Adjustments; <br /> (c) Handicapped Access Appeals Board; <br /> (d) Human Services Commission; <br /> 1 <br />
