City of San Leandro, the City Clerk shall submit a certificate of these facts to the City <br /> Council, and inform them that they may, at a regular or special meeting held before the <br /> November 7, 2000 Municipal Election, adopt one of the following courses of action: <br /> (1) Appoint to the office the person who has been nominated. <br /> (2) Appoint to the office any eligible elector if no one has been nominated. <br /> (3) Hold the election if either no one or only one person has been nominated. <br /> The City Clerk shall publish a notice of the facts described in this section and the <br /> available courses of action. Publication shall be made pursuant to Section 6061 of the <br /> Government Code in any newspaper of general circulation as designated by the Clerk. <br /> The procedures for these appointments or elections shall be conducted in <br /> accordance with Elections Code Section 10229. <br /> Section 7: PROVISION IF NO ONE OR ONLY ONF PERSON <br /> NOMINATED: <br /> (a) If, by 5:00 p.m. on the 83rd day before the November 7, 2000 General <br /> Election, no one or only one person has been nominated for any elective office to be <br /> filled at that election, and the election is subject to Section 36512 of the Government <br /> Code, the City Clerk shall submit a certificate of these facts to the City Council and <br /> inform them that they may, at a regular or special meeting held before the November 7, <br /> 2000 General Municipal Election, adopt one of the following courses of action. <br /> (1) Appoint to the office the person who has been nominated. <br /> (2) Appoint to the office any eligible elector if no one has been nominated. <br /> (3) Hold the election if either no one or only one person has been nominated. <br /> The City Clerk shall publish a notice of the facts described in this section and the <br /> courses of action available under this subdivision. Publication shall be made pursuant to <br /> Section 6061 of the Government Code in any newspaper of general circulation as <br /> designated by the Clerk. <br /> The procedures for these appointments or elections shall be conducted in <br /> accordance with Elections Code Section 10229. <br /> Section 8: TIE VOTE: RUNOFF PROVISIONS: In accordance with Elections <br /> Code 15651, the City of San Leandro will resolve a tic vote by the conduct of a special <br /> runoff election involving those candidates who received an equal number of votes and <br /> the highest number of votes. The runoff election shall be held pursuant to the provisions <br /> of Elections Code 15651, and the Council shall call for the runoff election to be held in <br />
