(c) When the damage ratio is greater than 0.5 (50 percent), <br /> buildings and structures, except essential service <br /> facilities included as Category I buildings and <br /> structures in Table 16 -K, shall at a minimum have the <br /> entire building or structure strengthened to comply <br /> with the force levels, connection requirements, and <br /> displacement criteria of the Building Code. This <br /> criteria shall apply to essential service facilities <br /> when the damage ratio is equal to or greater than 0.3 <br /> (30 percent). <br /> Section 7 -5 -165: LIGHT FIXTURES AND SUSPENDED CEILINGS. Under <br /> all damage ratios, when light fixtures and the suspension system <br /> of suspended ceilings are damaged, the damaged light fixtures and <br /> suspension systems shall be repaired to fully comply with the <br /> requirements of this Code and U.B.C. Standard 25 -2. Undamaged <br /> light fixtures and suspensions systems shall have the additional <br /> support and bracing provided that it is required in U.B.C. <br /> Standard 25 -2. <br /> Section 7 -5 -170: ANALYSIS OF NONCOMPLYING STRUCTURAL MEMBER. <br /> When the requirements of Section 3403.3 would require the removal <br /> of an otherwise undamaged structural member because that member <br /> does not comply with the construction requirements of this Code, <br /> such member may remain and be analyzed, strengthened and its <br /> connections strengthened to the lateral force levels required by <br /> this Code. <br /> Section 7 -5 -175: DAMAGED CHIMNEYS. All damaged chimneys shall <br /> be repaired or reconstructed to comply with the requirements of . <br /> • <br /> Chapter 3102.4 of the current Code. Damaged portions of chimneys • <br /> shall be removed in accordance with the following criteria: <br /> (a) When the damaged portion of the chimney is located <br /> between the roof line and the top of the chimney, the <br /> damaged portion shall be removed to the roof line <br /> provided the roof and ceiling anchorage are in sound <br /> condition. The reconstructed portion of the chimney <br /> shall be braced to the roof structure. <br /> (b) For single story structures where the damaged portion <br /> of the chimney is below the roofline, or the damaged <br /> portion extends from above the roofline to below the <br /> roofline, the chimney shall be removed to the top of <br /> the fireplace. <br /> (c) For multi -story structures, the damaged portion of the <br /> chimney shall be removed from the top to a floor line <br /> where sound anchorage is found. <br /> (d) In any structure where the fireplace has been damaged, <br /> the entire chimney and fireplace shall be removed to <br /> 7 <br />
