provided by this Article and Sections 108 and 1701 of the Building <br /> . Code, as adopted and amended in the San Leandro Municipal Code. <br /> Section 7 -5 -235: BOARD OF APPEALS. The Board of Appeals created <br /> under Section 7 -5 -110 of the San Leandro Municipal Code shall hear <br /> and decide appeals of orders, decisions or determinations made by <br /> the building official relative to the application and <br /> interpretation of this Article. The Board shall function as <br /> described in said Section of the San Leandro Municipal Code. <br /> Section 7-5-240: DEFINITIONS. <br /> (a) For the purpose of this Code, certain terms, phrases, <br /> words, and their derivatives shall be construed as <br /> specified in either this chapter or as specified in the <br /> Building Code (Title VII, Chapter 5, Article 1) or the <br /> Housing Code (Title VII, Chapter 5, Article 3). Where <br /> terms are not defined, they shall have their ordinary <br /> accepted meanings within the context with which they are <br /> used. Webster's Third New International Dictionary of <br /> the English Language, Unabridged, copyright 1986, shall <br /> be construed as providing ordinary accepted meanings. <br /> Words used in the singular include the plural and the <br /> plural the singular. Words used in the masculine gender <br /> include the feminine and the feminine the masculine. <br /> (b) BUILDING CODE is the Uniform Building Code promulgated <br /> by the International Conference of Building Officials, <br /> as adopted and amended by this City. <br /> (c) DANGEROUS BUILDING is any building, premises or <br /> structure deemed to be dangerous under the provisions of <br /> Section 7- 5- 240(e) of this Code. <br /> (d) HOUSING CODE is the Uniform Housing Code promulgated by <br /> the International Conference of Building Officials, as <br /> adopted and amended by this City. <br /> (e) DANGEROUS BUILDING. For the purpose of this Code, any <br /> building, premises or structure which has any or all of <br /> the conditions or defects hereinafter described shall be <br /> deemed to be a dangerous building and a public nuisance, <br /> provided that such conditions or defects exist to the <br /> extent that the life, health, property, or safety of the <br /> public or its occupants are endangered: <br /> (1) Whenever any door, aisle, passageway, stairway, or <br /> other means of exit is not of sufficient width or • <br /> size or is not arranged as to provide safe and <br /> adequate means of exit in case of fire or panic. <br /> -3- <br />
