CITY COUNCIL REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />City Councilmembers report on their activities, including attendance at Intergovernmental <br />Agency meetings, conferences and seminars, and local events, and make brief announcements <br />on issues of concern. <br /> <br />Councilmember Gregory responded to enior Center, and <br />invited Dr. Eylar to participate in developing the Health Element <br />He invited members of the City Council and School Board to participate in International <br />Walk and Roll to School Day on October 7, and he reported that 30% of Marin County school <br />children walk or bike to school. Councilmember Gregory noted the dangerous situation near <br />created by the traffic congestion, and he stated his interest in seeing the <br />City Council and School Board work toward a comprehensive solution to the problem. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Reed reported that the Bus Rapid Transit Policy Steering Committee meetings <br />have been put on hold. Vice Mayor Reed commented on the success of the Library <br />reading program. She and Councilmember Gregory attended the San Leandro High School <br />Quest Program, and she reported on the students perception that the City provided many <br />resources for senior citizens, but there was nothing for teenagers to do. Vice Mayor Reed <br />reported that the seniors in her area expressed concern over the loss of the Bancroft lunch <br />program. She noted that most seniors would not make the trip across town to the Marina <br />Community Center, and would lose the socialization element provided by the lunch program. <br /> <br />Councilmember Starosciak reported that the new Alameda County Transportation <br />Commission (Alameda CTC) has named Art Dau as its new executive director. She noted <br />that h center began to receive 9-1-1 cell phone calls in March or April of this <br /> <br />
