Guidelines Regarding Council Support for Measures 2 October 4, 2010 <br /> The amended Guideline language would read: <br /> The City Council as a group will not adopt a formal position in favor of or in opposition <br /> to ballot measures unless such ballot measure has a direct benefit to or impact on a <br /> significant portion of the community of San Leandro or the City of San Leandro. <br /> Language would also be added to the Guideline to read: <br /> Council Members requesting City Council support or opposition to a measure shall first <br /> receive consensus from the body to place said support or opposition on a future agenda <br /> for Council discussion and consideration. <br /> And: <br /> No public funds shall be used in any support for or opposition to any measure. <br /> Current City Council Policy <br /> Guidelines Regarding Council Support for Ballot Measures added to the San Leandro City <br /> Council Member Handbook in 2004. <br /> City Council Committee Review and Action <br /> This matter was discussed by the City Council Rules and Communications Committee on <br /> September 28, 2010, and consensus of the Committee was to forward it to the full Council for <br /> consideration at the October 4 Council meeting. <br /> Attachments <br /> None. <br /> CONCLUSION <br /> It is recommended that the City Council adopt the resolution, amending the Guidelines <br /> Regarding Council Support For or Opposition To Ballot Measures and incorporating the <br /> amended Guidelines as part of the San Leandro Council Members' Handbook. <br />
