DRAFT MINUTES <br /> Page 9 <br />City of San Leandro City Council, San Leandro Economic Development Agency, and San Leandro Redevelopment <br />October 18, 2010 <br />Agency Joint Meeting <br /> <br /> <br />the reporting of these funds. Councilmember Starosciak reported that she attended the <br />retirement event for Dennis Fay of the Alameda County Congestion Management Agency and <br />Christine Monson of the Alameda County Transportation Improvement Authority. She hoped <br />that the City could issue a letter or resolution, recognizing the work of these two individuals. <br />Councilmember Starosciak attended the Shoreline Development Citizens Advisory <br />Committee meeting, and commented on the dedication of its members. She remarked that <br />residents have suggested providing shoreline access for dogs, and hotel or kennel service for <br />the pets of visitors to the marina. <br /> <br />Councilmember Prola commented on the City of Hayward <br />and requested that the issue be considered by the City Council Rules and Communications <br />Committee. Councilmember Prola attended the following meetings and events: a meeting at <br />Jefferson Elementary School regarding the paving along Bancroft; the Aging in Place <br />Conference; the groundbreaking of the new IBEW Union Hall; the Employee Recognition <br />Barbecue and Service Awards; Coffee with the Mayor at Mission Bay Mobile Home Park; the <br />ribbon cutting at East Bay Flowers; the Trivia Bee; the Mulford Gardens Improvement <br />Association meeting; and the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District (ACMAD) <br />Board meeting, at which another human case of West Nile Virus was reported in the county. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Reed asked if there was consensus to refer consideration of a polystyrene foam <br />ban to the City Council Rules and Communications Committee. There was consensus of the <br /> <br />Council to do so. <br /> <br />Councilmember Stephens stated that he was glad that the Council would be bringing the <br />polystyrene foam ban to the Rules Committee. He requested that staff send a letter to <br />Caltrans requesting a cleanup of the MacArthur onramp to I-580. <br /> <br />Councilmember Souza reported that she attended the Employee Recognition Barbecue and <br />Service Awards; the Electricians Union Hall groundbreaking; the Trivia Bee; and the <br />Washington Manor Homeowners Association meeting. As Chair of the Measure O Citizens <br />Oversight Committee, she shared that Measure O bond funds are being used to renovate the <br />sports fields at both Arroyo and San Lorenzo High Schools. <br /> <br />Councilmember Gregory reported that the International Walk and Roll to School Week was a <br />success in San Leandro. Councilmember Gregory and his wife represented San Leandro at <br />the annual meeting of the NAACP of Southern Alameda County. He attended the Employee <br />Recognition Barbecue and the Roosevelt Festival. He reported that a volunteer group is <br />organizing an I-580 onramp cleanup. <br /> <br />Mr. Hollister indicated that Caltrans is amenable to a volunteer cleanup, but has had difficulty <br />scheduling a Saturday date due to staffing. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Reed reported that she attended the Employee Recognition Barbecue and Service <br />Awards ceremony.
