COMMISSION PROFILE <br /> Title of Commission: RECREATION AND PARKS COMMISSION <br /> Description of Board Duties: <br /> The Commission shall: <br /> (a) recommend policies for the management and improvement of all <br /> property used for recreational purposes by the City; <br /> (b) recommend plans for the future development of the recreation program <br /> to meet the needs of the City; <br /> (c) interpret the City's recreation programs and plans to the people; <br /> (d) advise the Council on all matters concerning the cultural state of the <br /> City; <br /> (e) report to the Council the cultural needs of the City; • <br /> (f) recommend to the Council the means for fulfilling the cultural needs <br /> of the City; <br /> (g) provide liaison between the council and all cultural organizations <br /> operating within the local community; <br /> (h) coordinate cultural activities within the City; <br /> (i) devise and recommend to the Council implementation of procedures <br /> for establishing and maintaining appropriate relationships with non - <br /> local cultural organizations; <br /> (j) assist all cultural organizations operating within the local community <br /> to develop a high level of community participation in cultural <br /> endeavors and activities; <br /> (k) study proposed programs and proposed budgets of cultural <br /> organizations making requests of the City and recommend Council <br /> approval or disapproval of any proposed program or budget for which <br /> City funds are requested. No such program or budget involving City <br /> assistance or City funding, or the use of City property, shall be <br /> implemented without approval of the Council. <br /> XVI -12 <br />
