Johnson, President/CEO <br /> Subject: Business Development Contract - Industrial Program — 10 -11 — 1st Quarter Report <br /> Background <br /> The San Leandro Chamber of Commerce has a long- standing strong and productive partnership with the City to <br /> carry our business support and development work. <br /> One key element of this work is the Industrial Program, established in February 2009, creating five industrial <br /> neighborhoods in order to determine company service needs so that our companies stay and grow here, and, <br /> working together with the businesses, strengthen each area to be competitive in attracting and growing new <br /> business opportunities. Key issues discovered included strengthening local sourcing opportunities, employment <br /> and training, safety and security and attracting new technology companies. <br /> Mission <br /> To grow and sustain a competitive San Leandro industrial economy for the 21 century through the retention <br /> and attraction of companies that can take advantage of the city's many assets. <br /> Strategy <br /> 1. Maintain and promote San Leandro's strength as an economy representing a diverse cross - section of <br /> industry types and employment opportunities. <br /> 2. Supporting and promoting the successful occupancy of existing commercial, industrial and retail <br /> businesses as well as the growth and/or redevelopment of those and other businesses and properties. <br /> 3. Developing and implementing a strategy to support the attraction and growth of key emerging industries <br /> and markets that reflect both green and sustainable enterprises as well as those companies that will <br /> benefit from San Leandro's key location advantages. <br /> 4.
