Section 32.09 by providing continued improvement of near -shore waters within and around the
San Leandro Marina.
Permits and /or Variances Granted
N/A
Environmental Review
N/A
Code Compliance Review
N /.4
Board /Commission Findings
N/A
Summary of Public Outreach Efforts
N/A
Fiscal Impact
The City will receive 599,893 in grant money to pay for the purchase and installation of full trash
capture devices — more than enough to meet the perniit- required treatment of 216 acres and help
us meet the phased in total trash reduction requirements.
The City is responsible for long -terns maintenance of the installed units and it is estimated that
up to S12,000 /year will be needed for inspection and cleaning, so as to prevent flooding and
minimize bypass of the treatment devices. Storm drain inlet (SDI) inspection and cleaning costs
for one time per SDI per year are already included in the Public Works storm and sanitary sewer
collection system budget. Installation of these devices may increase that maintenance frequency
per SDI to two to three times per year per unit installed, depending upon its location and quantity
of debris accumulated.
Budget Authority
N/A
Attachments
Agreement for Local Agency Participation in Grant - Funded Bay Area -wide Trash Capture
Demonstration Project
CONCLUSION
Staff recommends the City Council adopt the attached resolution authorizing the City Manager
to execute an agreement with the Association of Bay Area Governments for the Bay Area -wide
Trash Capture Demonstration Project,
