A compromise solution was reached, to reduce the number
of meetings for each body from twice to once per month.
Committee Member Prola commented that this proposed change would benefit both staff and
constituents.
Chair Cassidy suggested that it would be helpful to provide a flowchart, showing which matters the
BZA would continue to handle, and which would be assumed by the administrative hearing body. Discussion Regarding Proposed City Council Calendar
Assistant City Manager Lianne Marshall noted previous discussions by the Council and Committee
regarding the need for a City Council calendar that would list City meetings and important City and
local events. She asked the Committee if there was interest in having an electronic or physical
calendar, which listed these events. Committee Member Reed commented that the monthly Calendar
of Events the Council used to receive was very useful.
Information Services Manager Rayan Fowler suggested that a City Council calendar could be created in
Microsoft Outlook, and the Committee and staff discussed the pros and cons of maintaining and
accessing the calendar in Outlook.
The Committee discussed ideas for tracking calendar items. Staff agreed to develop a calendar for
Councilntembers to post events. The calendar with the current month's events could be provided with
the Council's Weekly Update. The Committee agreed to discuss implementation of the calendar at its
March meeting.
3. Discussion Regarding City Website
At the last Committee meeting, Chair Cassidy suggested convening a focus group to provide ideas and
input on the City website. Committee members discussed the idea, and a suggestion was made to use
the Branding and Marketing Strategy Working Group as the website focus group. Community
Relations Representative Kathy Omelas indicated that she would work with the Office of Business
Development to schedule a meeting with the Branding and Marketing Strategy Work Group to discuss
this request.
