MINUTES Page 7 <br /> City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting —March 7, 2011 <br /> Michael Costa, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, expressing <br /> support for Mr. Saunders' comments and proposal. Mr. Costa suggested allowing RV <br /> owners to call in for their permits, and commented that 24 exemptions per year may <br /> not be enough for some RV owners. <br /> Chuck Pershing, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, expressing <br /> opposition to the proposed ordinance. Mr. Pershing provided photos of parked RVs, <br /> and commented on the visibility and traffic safety issues created by oversized vehicles <br /> parked on residential streets. <br /> David Boles, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, commenting that he <br /> believed the ordinance amendments would be fair to most RV owners. <br /> End of Public Comments on Item 8.C. <br /> Councilmember Souza suggested linking the permits to a San Leandro address. <br /> Councilmember Cutter reported that she received emails from two residents who <br /> oppose the ordinance. She suggested restricting the parking of oversized vehicles to a <br /> specified distance from a driveway. <br /> Community Relations Representative Kathy Ornelas summarized the provisions of the <br /> existing and proposed ordinances. <br /> Councilmember Prola stated support for adopting the ordinance, and expressed <br /> willingness to continue to discuss the matter at the Rules and Communications <br /> Committee. <br /> Mr. Hollister indicated that residents could request that their driveways be red - tipped, <br /> to keep parked vehicles from blocking driveway visibility. <br /> • Ordinance No. 2011 -002, an Ordinance of the City of San Leandro Repealing <br /> Section 6- 1- 430(a)(3) of the San Leandro Municipal Code, and Adopting a New <br /> Section 6- 1- 430(a)(3) Permitting the Parking of Recreational Vehicles on <br /> Residential Streets upon Request for Exemption (permits the parking of <br /> recreational vehicles on residential streets 24 times per year). <br /> — Passed to print <br /> M/S /C Prola and Starosciak.
